Hello to one and all! We hope this post finds you healthy and seeking the peace that only our Great God can provide. It is easy for me to say that this year went by so fast. I'd like to do a recap of this past year and invite you to read along. It helps me to remember that this year really did happen and was really a whole 12 months long!
January: We experienced the labor and delivery of 16 piggies. Our dog Indi was lost for 5 days and through the help of a kind soul in town, we were reunited!
February: Aunt Elise came to visit us for half a week and also let us know she was engaged! We celebrated the Aupperle boys birthdays and kids had a blast with the pinata! Our kids also made us a lovely Valentines dinner and we ate by candlelight. Our kids also got to restart some horse lessons with two of the older girls here.
March: We celebrated with the Leman kids on getting their American Citizenship approved and also for Franky and Jaqueline's wedding and reception. We were also anxiously anticipating our trip to Florida for Spring Break with both sets of Grandparents.
April: We enjoyed staying in an AirBnB in Sarasota with Grandpa and Grandma Z and Aunt Elise and got to see the Ott family frequently. Hanging out at Uncle Adam's Siesta Beach is always a good time.
May: We headed back to Illinois for the first time since we moved and packed alot in! Mother's Day, birthdays, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, pictures and the wedding! Along with seeing as many people as we could connect with! Mom Z and Marilyn McClure came for 5 days and was so good to get to show them around.
June: Kids finished school this month and waited for Joy Camp to begin and the summer volunteers to come. It began to get HOT outside!
July: We celebrated July 4th with some other Americans and had a pool party for the kids. Indi had 11 puppies and lost 2. It was such a good distraction from the violence that was taking place in town.
August: In early August, kids participated in EXPO and received many awards. Uncle Adam came to watch and then traveled Mexico for awhile. We drove to the capital city, Hermosillo, for a quick overnight trip. The three elders that are over the Magdalena church visited and we got to host them for a supper one evening. All four kids started back to school.
September: Andy turned 40 early September so we snuck over to Cabo San Lucas to celebrate for a few days. Uncle Adam and Sierra kept the home fires burning. Towards the end of the month, CVE and Ranch Aqua Viva held a Rodeo which was super fun to watch. Sierra participated in barrel racing and Malaya and Clayton did sheep tying. All of the puppies have gone home.
We also celebrated Mexican's Independence Day.
October: Mark and Tammy Roth and Jeff and Marilyn McClure came for a long weekend over Columbus Day weekend. They helped fix some things around the house and got the go-kart running. A week and a half later, Dad and Mom Z came for a week. We spent some of the time at the San Carlos Beach and had a lovely time!
November: Early this month, we had Chili and Pie Night. If I remember correctly, Andy got 2nd for Peoples Choice in Chili. Later that night, Sierra started repenting! Jude Slagel turned 2 and we got to celebrate with him at his party. Middle of the month brought the HarvestCall boards to Magdalena. We hosted Brian and Bev Mogler and Stephen and DonnaLou Baner. Celebrated Thanksgiving together as a community.
December: We are getting ready to have our PCLM Christmas party this Friday. After that, Lord Willing, we will fly to Tampa on Clayton's 9th birthday. We plan to spend two weeks with Andy's family. Malaya will turn 11 at the end of the month.
In each of these moments, God gave us the breath to live through them. It's a good reminder to remember that He holds us in the Palm of His Hand. We can do NOTHING without Him. Thanks for joining me in this walk down 2021!
