Church at home today.
The kids set up a pulpit, we sang a song, Clayton had a prayer and we listened to church.
As we were all sitting around listening, I couldn't help but think about Costa Rica. Lord Willing, when we get there, we may be doing the same church setup. I find myself in a mix between wanting to be there and experiencing a new culture, new language, new routine and also being thankful we haven't started those transitions. That we are still here doing life among our culture, our families, our work etc.
Andy and I had a conversation last night about the waiting. I told him that I struggle with wondering why? Why did we fly through the interview/mission process only to come to a seemingly screeching halt? He said, "He's working on your patience. He's working on my patience."
Earlier last week I had looked up kings that trusted God. One of those kings was Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20). Enemies were on their way to start battle with his men. He asked his people to fast and to pray to God for help. God spoke back to them through Jahaziel who said, "...Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. ...Ye shall not need to fight in this battle; set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you."
The story about Jehoshaphat gives me HOPE. God's love is always with us. And stronger than any situation we face. He is always there for us. He will be there for us in the moving out of our house, He will be with us in Costa Rica, He will be with us at CVE, and He will be with us beyond CVE.
