All Alone

As an introvert, I value my time to myself.

I tell Andy that my favorite part of the day is bedtime. Kids are heading to bed, the days chores are done, ahead is rest and sweet dreams. If the day was a "bad" one, it will give birth to a new one with promise.

But also, its time to myself. I can either lay down and go right to sleep. Or I can read a book, finish a project, surf the web, talk to Andy ALONE...the list goes on.

Last night we were at a church singing. The first song I heard them singing when I sat down was "All Alone".

There are times I'd like to be

All Alone with Christ my Lord

I can tell Him of my troubles, all alone.

There are times I'd like to be

With the sanctified and blest

There are times I like to be all alone

God can always grace impart

To my weary saddened heart,

There are times I'd like to be just all alone.

When a heart is broken up

With the tearful lonesome cup,

Then's the time to go to Christ all alone.

In our blessed Lord divine

There is peace and joy sublime

When we take our sorrows all to Him alone.

There are times I'd like to be

All Alone with Christ my Lord

I can tell Him of my troubles, all alone.

After we finished the song, I leaned over to the person next to me and said, "This is the song for mother's everywhere."

She nodded and smiled and we went on to talk about using the toilet with little cold hands touching us, showering with the little boogers, and just longing to be ALONE.

If it would have been an older mom or grandmother, they would have said, "Someday you'll miss those things."

But there's something about sitting in your state and being able to relate to the one next to you and NOT thinking about how you'll miss it. Sometimes it just feels good and right to wallow a little bit.

Being all alone with Christ is something to value in every stage of life.

The frazzled mother.

The stressed single.

The worried father.

The anxious grandparent.

The lonely widow and widower.

Times of refreshing come when I've had alone time with God.

Praise God for giving us what we need.
