Abiding in Jesus

By thee is my life inspired:
Thou art strength and light to me,
As a branch that has acquired
From the vine its energy.
Energy.
If you're a mother you know a lot about energy.
The lack of it in yourself.
The abundance of it in your children.
The coveting of it in other people.
There are days I'm exhausted before the day has ever begun. Have I spent time with God? God is sure to give me energy. It's called grace. Falling on my face and begging God to help me through another day, it is then I feel the burden lift.

There are a lot of things I would change about myself if only I could snap my fingers and see results. One would be of self discipline. I do things out of feelings. I feel like cleaning the house up on a rainy day with my music. I feel like taking a bike ride. I feel like baking a pan of brownies. I feel the need to read my Bible. I feel like conversing with a friend. I feel like hosting another couple with kids.
Is this wrong?
Sometimes I believe it is. Feeling the need to read the Bible? I need to be self disciplined in reading it daily so that I have Christ there to strengthen me (Phil 4:13).
