Happy Thursday to you! I had this thought today of trying to write a blog post about a week in the life of Andy. Each day looks a little different here, but the weeks for the most part remain fairly consistent. This past summer, The Fatted Calf had two interns for the summer and one of them just happens to be a great photographer. So I want to give Addison Beyer credit for all of these pictures she took!!

Mondays

Most Mondays Andy will drive to the headquarters ranch, just a 3 minute or less drive from home. Here, he meets with 3 Rancho Agua Viva employees and discusses the week ahead. Because Andy has no former Ranch experience, this was a place of great hesitancy in the beginning. However, these 3 other men are excellent at what they do and know what needs done when and just keep Andy informed so he can report back to The Fatted Calf board.

Sometimes The PCLM or Fatted Calf Boards will have Zoom Meetings. These can take place on Mondays and Andy can either do it from home or go into Carnisimo for those.

The rest of the day is spent meeting with Claudia, the woman that keeps both businesses in town running! They will talk through many things and make a plan for the week.

Tuesdays

Carnisimo Burgers is open Monday through Saturday. They serve a variety of sandwiches, fries and drinks. Jonathan Aupperle, another HarvestCall Missionary, manages the restaurant. Tuesday is his day off so Andy fills in for him. For those of you who know Andy and his love for making food, you'll see why I'm in awe of God's faithfulness to give us the desires of our heart. Many, many times Andy would talk about the dream to have a restaurant or food truck. I was never on board because I know how much work and stress the food industry is. (Well, I don't really know honestly, I can just imagine.) So to see him getting a taste of this dream and to be around something that gives him joy, while serving the Lord, means so much to me.

Wednesdays and Thursdays

Midweek begins meat production on the Carnisimo side. For those who have never been here, Carnisimo meats and Carnisimo Burgers are right next to each other. Carnisimo Burgers is in the former Cafe Sed building. A variety of meat is brought in from a supplier and Andy and Martin work together to make flavorful meat products, like ground beef, chorizo, salami, carne asada, beef jerky, beef sticks, bombas, ham and chicken patties.

Some of these products are used only in the restaurant, like the chicken patties. But the rest is for retail. Duane Wulf, a former missionary here, is a meat scientist and came up with all the recipes.

Fridays

Fridays tend to be the catch up day from the week, finishing up little projects that got started and need finished, making plans for the next week, etc. Today was special in that some visitors and interns came to tour the establishment.

Saturdays

Jonathan and Andy rotate Saturdays, working the restaurant with the crew. They try to work their schedule out to help each other out when one has family coming in or traveling to family.

Sundays

Sundays both places are closed and some employees join us at church in town. Please pray with us that the others that have not yet visited or desire a church family would be softened towards the gospel.

So that is his week in a nutshell! Thanks for reading along and supporting Andy and our family in love and support!
