A Peek Inside the Classroom

As we walked to school today, one of the kids asked me what my favorite day of the week was here. Mondays, I said. I think I was more surprised than she was.
I've thought about it a little since and reflected on my answer. I'm all for fresh starts and I think that's what a Monday implies. A new week to learn something new. A new week to work through struggles with God's help. I love my children and sometimes I need a break from their needs. Going to school, I can have adult conversation for 5 hours! Also, Elieth (our empleada) comes and puts our house back together...the weekends can be messy!
Sundays here are just plain exhausting. Listening to a sermon in a language other than your own, has me feeling defeated and discouraged. Yesterday, by the last 15 minutes of the service, I had resorted to listening for words that I didn't know, writing them down and then translating them. It's my hope that those words will stick with me, so that next Sunday I won't need to write them down, but will understand. And maybe by next August, I will be able to comprehend and just sit and listen. It's my hope!
It's easier to sing in Spanish than to listen in Spanish!
I'm thankful for our AC Sermon Streamer. We can tune in live to our 2nd service when we get home from El Lugar (our church here).

This is the hallway where our classrooms are. Erin's are downstairs and Andy's are upstairs.

This is Erin's grammar teacher, Jonesi. She is an awesome teacher and is teaching one of my least favorite subjects, while making sense!

I just had a grammar test today and this was the information she gave us so we knew what to expect while we were studying for it.

She gives us lots of practice, practice, practice!!

Today we started incomplemento directo, which hasn't been as bad as I was making it out to be.

It's always a sweet day when the secretary at school tells us we have mail from home!!!

In my lenguaje class, we had to give a presentation on an era of clothing. I picked the 50's and did a powerpoint presentation.

This is my lenguaje teacher, Eugenia. She is a gem and so easy to like. She taught us how to make a drink out of the fruit cas today.
It's very acidic, so that's why there's a need for so much brown sugar:)
Prayers:
1. This week is a big test week for all of us. I think the kids have like 5 tests, I have 3 and Andy has 2.
2. Continue to pray for our health. Sierra and Erin are getting over head colds and Erin has had a few more headaches than usual. The weather is changing to "dry" season, so that may be the reason.
3. Overall, I feel like the kids are doing well. Keep praying that they make good friendships here and are still able to connect with their friends back home.
4. Our little brother family is coming in December. We showed them 3 houses and they picked one so we've started the process to get them set up here. The Big Brother program is such a blessing to us so we are happy to get to do this for them. Their kids are apprehensive about coming and the Mom is a homeschooling mom who is nervous about sending her kids to school. So we are praying for them. I think our kids will have a lot in common and hopefully will form close friendships. They have 4 kids, around the same ages as ours!
5. Andy's family is coming for a week around Thanksgiving. We are going to steal away with them to a beach, so we look forward to seeing them. Prayers that we can remain healthy and safe on our trip!
Thanks so much for praying with and for us. We love you and pray for you as well. May God be with each of us this week and may He be glorified in our lives.
